Gift #633

According to happiness researchers only 10% of happiness comes from our circumstances, who we married, the size of our house and how much money we have in the bank. 50% comes from our genes or natural disposition and the last 40% of our happiness is based on our choices. We can choose to be upset with our spouse, our boss, or the guy who cuts us off in traffic or we can choose to accept them with all their challenges and find reasons to be happy anyway.

In this equation of happiness none of the factors are constant.
10% circumstances - keep changing with time
40% choices - also keep changing moment to moment
50% genetic expression - assumed to be constant are again triggered by the way we think.

Let me explain further...
We actually have a tremendous amount of control over how our genetic traits are expressed. They are affected by various factors, from how we think to what we eat and the environment we live in.

This is the science of epigenetics by Cellular biologist Bruce Lipton, PhD., who is one of the leading authorities on how emotions can regulate genetic expression, which is explained in-depth in his excellent book - The Biology of Belief. According to Dr. Lipton, the true secret to life does not lie within your DNA, but rather within the mechanisms of your cell membrane.

Each cell membrane has receptors that pick up various environmental signals, and this mechanism controls the "reading" of the genes inside our cells. Our cells can choose to read or not read the genetic blueprint depending on the signals being received from the environment. So having a "cancer program" in our DNA does not automatically mean we're destined to get cancer. Far from it. This genetic information does not ever have to be expressed...

What this all means is that we are not controlled by your genetic makeup. Instead, our genetic readout (which genes are turned "on" and which are turned "off") is primarily determined by our thoughts, attitudes, and perceptions!

So here in the happiness factors a major chunk is dependent on the way we think. Take control of your life and own your happiness rather than being a victim of the people and circumstances around you!!!
