I am sure you must have heard of the numerous health benefits of yoga. Today on the occasion of International Yoga day I wish to share totally different kinds of benefits of a very special yogasana - Eka Pada Pranamasana or the one-legged prayer pose. This balancing pose helps one maintain a sense of equilibrium and also strengthens the leg muscles. It also improves awareness as the balance can be lost if the mind wavers during the practice.

Try it yourself and you will find it difficult to maintain balance if you are a beginner and would keep swinging from one end to another. To find balance you need to fix your gaze/focus ahead on an object of concentration and maintain awareness along with the breathing process. Once you focus in the distance you will find balance almost immediately!!!

This happens in life too. We sometimes get thrown off balance, lose focus on the NOW. Now looks difficult, until we start to focus on the long term goal, our larger vision, and we realise how the current imbalance is insignificant, giving us all the balance we need.

Sometimes focusing on a point is all we need to find balance now, isn't?
